Projekthistorie
In my role at aconso AG, I was tasked not only with designing, implementing, and maintaining a robust cloud infrastructure but also served as a coach and trainer. Additionally, I actively supported the executive management and the CTO in responding to customer inquiries and explaining our implementation strategies for advanced security practices such as SIEM (Security Information and Event Management), EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response), data encryption, and access logging. Exclusive environments were provided for enterprise customers, tailored specifically to their requirements. The infrastructure's core was built on AWS ECS, utilizing both EC2 and Fargate for container orchestration. To improve operational processes and optimize infrastructure management, we transitioned from CloudFormation to Terraform with Terragrunt, which allowed for more efficient resource management and enhanced scalability. Application scalability and availability were ensured through the use of AWS Load Balancers, and a blue-green deployment model managed via GitLab CI was implemented. This enabled seamless transitions between production versions without downtime. Monitoring and performance tracking were conducted via Datadog. Through these comprehensive measures, the project met high reliability and security requirements, making it a cornerstone of our digital offerings.
At Cura4You GmbH, I took on the lead role in establishing and managing a comprehensive infrastructure built from the ground up. The project involved handling sensitive medical data, necessitating the highest standards in data security and privacy. I configured and managed multiple AWS ECS and AWS EKS Kubernetes clusters, hosting an extensive array of microservices. The Docker containers used were precisely aligned with local development environments to ensure consistency and efficiency. The frontend was delivered using CloudFront and S3 buckets, focusing on optimized performance and scalability. We implemented a blue-green deployment strategy via GitHub Actions, enabling the integration of automated testing, which significantly enhanced the reliability and stability of our applications. Notably, imported keys in AWS KMS were utilized, adding an additional layer of security for data encryption. Continuous monitoring of the entire infrastructure was performed using Datadog, with rigorous adherence to strict security standards such as BSI, PCI, and ISO 27001 consistently maintained. Data management was handled using multiple AWS RDS Aurora clusters with MySQL 8.0, and various AWS ElastiCache Redis clusters. The entire infrastructure planning and automated rollout were achieved through strategic use of Terraform and Terragrunt. Additionally, I provided development and staging environments for the technical team and product owners, as well as local development setups for the frontend and backend development teams.
At PlanA Earth, I was responsible for migrating the existing AWS infrastructure to a high availability AWS infrastructure, addressing the challenges of an organically grown system with frequent staff changes, where dedicated care for the AWS infrastructure had dwindled. I spearheaded the migration effort, utilizing a suite of AWS services to enhance the system's resilience and scalability. Key components of this upgrade included several AWS RDS MySQL 8.0 clusters and AWS ElastiCache Redis clusters, which significantly improved data handling and caching capabilities. Additionally, I implemented multiple blue-green deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions, which facilitated seamless code deployments and minimized downtime. This was part of the broader initiative to support the development team with the local development environment and the CI/CD pipeline for rolling out new code. PlanA Earth aimed to achieve ISO 27001 and SoC2 certification, a process in which I was deeply involved, particularly in monitoring assets and resources using Vanta. AWS services such as AWS ECS with both EC2 and Fargate configurations, AWS Load Balancers, and AWS KMS were strategically employed to meet these stringent security standards and ensure a robust, scalable, and secure infrastructure.
