I led and participated in the software and hardware development of a robust, small form factor, low-cost, high-performance play station like RC remote according to the customer's needs. From a software perspective, the main challenges were combining a proprietary project for the RF link with an open source project for the radio controller, the most popular market, into a single chip running alongside an RTOS architecture. From a hardware perspective, the main challenges were durability, compact form factor, and low production cost. A team of 15 people did the project, and I was in a lead role, taking it from an idea to a ready-to-ship product.
I led the TBS CROSSFIRE project, transforming it into the industry standard for long-range UAV and FPV drone racing control. My role drove innovation through advanced hardware and firmware incorporating a robust LoRa-based two-way link and real-time telemetry. This adaptive system, boasting a 150Hz low-latency update rate, supports seamless flights beyond 100km, even in high-interference environments, while smart features like frequency hopping and adaptive bandwidth (on-the-fly modulation switching between LoRa and FSK) control optimize stability. I prioritized ease of use with an OLED interface for simple configuration, binding, and updates, ensuring compatibility with Betaflight, ArduPilot, PX4, and other major flight systems via MAVLink and CRSF protocols. The result: an intuitive, reliable, high-performance link that raised TBS to a UAV tech leader.

Custom Mainboard
custom main board based on my recommendation to the customer to integrate a previously module-based solution of PLC controller, multiple motor controllers, power distribution, IO control, and sensor management into a single PCB with an STM32 at the heart to control everything. I build the complete hardware as well as the software running on it. This solution does reduce the production cost and building complexity for the customer dramatically.
