AWS Infrastructure Migration and Integration – ImmoScout & Homegate

As a key member of an international team, I played a pivotal role in the successful migration and integration of the IT infrastructures for Switzerland's leading real estate platforms, ImmoScout and Homegate, onto Amazon Web Services (AWS). The project focused on consolidating two platform-independent infrastructures into a unified AWS architecture, involving several complex tasks such as migrating from the Serverless Framework to AWS Cloud Development Kit (CDK), transitioning from GitLab to GitHub with an optimized CI/CD pipeline, implementing monitoring with Datadog, and enhancing search functionality with Elasticsearch.
Responsibilities and Achievements:

• AWS Infrastructure Migration: Planned, implemented, and managed AWS resources (Lambda, S3, DynamoDB, SNS, CloudFormation, CloudFront) to build a consolidated, scalable infrastructure for both platforms.
• Migration from Serverless Framework to AWS CDK: Contributed to redesigning and optimizing serverless applications using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) principles with AWS CDK, enhancing infrastructure flexibility and scalability.
• GitLab to GitHub Migration & CI/CD Optimization: Led the migration of version control and CI/CD pipelines from GitLab to GitHub, integrating GitHub Actions, which improved development efficiency and reduced errors.
• Search Optimization with Elasticsearch: Enhanced existing Elasticsearch integration to improve search performance and relevance, including query optimization and ensuring a scalable, high-performance solution.
• Monitoring with Datadog: Expanded monitoring capabilities by building custom dashboards and setting up detailed alerting, allowing for proactive monitoring of infrastructure and application performance.
• Training and Knowledge Transfer: Delivered training sessions and workshops for internal teams to ensure they were well-equipped to maintain and scale the new AWS infrastructure post-migration.

Outcomes:
The project was extended three times due to its complexity. Through my expertise and dedication, the migration was successfully completed, with both platforms seamlessly integrated and consolidated. This laid the foundation for a scalable, future-proof infrastructure, enabling further growth and innovation.

As a Coach at Neuefische GmbH, I was instrumental in developing and launching multiple bootcamps. I not only created innovative learning concepts but also built and led teams to deliver hands-on, in-depth education for participants, enabling them to gain the practical skills needed to succeed in tech. Additionally, I developed and delivered corporate training programs to help organizations upskill their teams and meet evolving business needs.
Responsibilities and Achievements:

• Development and Launch of the Java Bootcamp:
  I designed and implemented the Java Bootcamp, tailored to beginners and career changers. The program focused on practical learning and modern software development practices to equip participants with solid Java programming skills. Additionally, I built the trainer team and provided coaching to ensure that the content was delivered effectively and engagingly.
• Team Building and Leadership:
  I recruited and led a dedicated team of coaches and trainers who helped deliver the bootcamp alongside me. I provided continuous development opportunities for the team through regular training sessions and feedback loops to ensure high-quality education and an optimal learning experience for participants.
• Introduction of the AWS Bootcamp in Collaboration with AWS:
  In close cooperation with AWS, I developed a custom-tailored AWS Bootcamp that taught participants both foundational and advanced concepts of cloud computing using Amazon Web Services. I spearheaded the launch of this bootcamp, built the trainer team, and facilitated a strong partnership with AWS to ensure participants gained access to the latest best practices and tools in cloud architecture and management.
• Corporate Training Program Development and Delivery:
  In addition to bootcamp initiatives, I developed and delivered tailored training programs for companies looking to upskill their teams in specific technologies such as Java, AWS, and cloud computing. These corporate training sessions were designed to address the unique challenges and goals of each organization, empowering their teams to successfully implement new technologies and enhance productivity.
• Mentoring and Coaching of Participants:
  I acted as a mentor, providing one-on-one guidance to bootcamp participants. I ensured that learning was not only theoretical but could be practically applied, helping individuals overcome challenges and deepen their technical skills.
• Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement:
  I ensured both bootcamps and corporate training programs were continuously evaluated and improved based on participant feedback, industry trends, and technological advancements. This helped keep the programs up to date and ensured participants were fully prepared for the job market.

Outcomes:
Both the Java and AWS Bootcamps became highly successful programs, providing hundreds of participants with a solid entry into the tech industry. Under my leadership and through close collaboration with AWS, the AWS Bootcamp gained significant recognition in the cloud computing space and contributed to the training of many cloud architects and developers. Additionally, the corporate training programs I developed allowed companies to upskill their workforce effectively, improving overall team performance and enabling them to stay competitive in the tech industry.

In a team of developers and UI/UX experts we build a tool to increase transparency in the enterprise. We are using Kubernetes, VueJs, Nats, Node, Kotlin, Spring, ElasticSearch, MongoDB and Neo4j.
