Snowflake Data Engineer – Energy Trading DWH Build (Remote, Germany)
We are looking for an experienced Snowflake Data Engineer to support the end-to-end build of a new cloud-based Data Warehouse for a rapidly growing energy trading platform. This is a long-term freelance project with full remote work within Germany.
Project Overview
Our client is modernizing their analytics and trading infrastructure. You will play a key role in designing and implementing a scalable Snowflake-based DWH that supports risk, forecasting, pricing, and real-time trading insights.
Responsibilities
Design and develop a new Snowflake Data Warehouse from the ground up
Build robust ETL/ELT pipelines (dbt, Snowpipe, Streams/Tasks, Airflow preferred)
Model data using best practices (Data Vault / dimensional modeling)
Integrate data from multiple internal and external energy-market sources
Implement governance, security, performance optimization, and monitoring
Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and trading teams
Must-Have Skills
Strong hands-on experience with Snowflake (warehouses, streams, tasks, file formats, Snowpipe)
Proficiency in SQL and at least one scripting language (Python preferred)
Experience with cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP)
Solid understanding of data modeling and scalable architecture
Background in ETL/ELT pipeline design
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently
Nice to Have
Experience in energy trading, commodities, or financial markets
dbt experience
Real-time or near-real-time data processing
Knowledge of risk management or forecasting systems

Remote within Germany
Start: ASAP
Duration: 6–12 months+
Allocation: Full-time preferred
