Beschreibung

Overview:

iO Associates is looking for a hands-on Computer Vision Engineer or AI Consultant to prototype and build a fine-tuned image recognition model for a proof-of-concept project centered on consumer appliances.

The goal is to automatically detect branded products within lifestyle photos and generate accurate alt-text and metadata for accessibility and SEO optimization. This role will include collaborating directly with the hiring manager to refine technical scope and implementation options.

Key Objectives:

  1. Develop a fine-tuned image model capable of identifying specific branded home appliances (e.g. Series 6 air fryer, or a specific vacuum cleaner) from both lifestyle and marketing images.
  2. Build a system that outputs accurate, descriptive, and EU Regulation-compliant alternative text metadata for each image.
  3. Explore and evaluate cloud-based and open-source architectures to train and serve the model (e.g., Azure AI Vision, Hugging Face, or custom PyTorch pipelines).
  4. Collaborate with stakeholders to define technical requirements, assess feasibility, and contribute to early-phase go-to-market strategy validation.
Responsibilities:

  1. Collect and pre-process product and lifestyle image datasets (potentially via scraping or API extraction).
  2. Fine-tune or train image captioning/recognition models capable of identifying brand, model, and series-level detail.
  3. Integrate output schema aligning with SEO and accessibility compliance standards.
  4. Advise on model hosting, scalability, and cost-efficient deployment (Azure, AWS, or hybrid).
  5. Participate in iterative discovery sessions with business stakeholders to align product functionality and technical milestones.
Desired Skills & Experience:

  1. Proven experience delivering computer vision solutions (classification, object detection, or image captioning).
  2. Proficiency with Python and deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch or TensorFlow.
  3. Strong understanding of transfer learning, fine-tuning, and dataset labeling strategies.
  4. Familiarity with cloud AI/ML services (Microsoft Azure AI, AWS SageMaker, Google Vertex AI, or similar).
  5. Experience building automated data ingestion and model evaluation pipelines.
  6. Comfort engaging with non-technical stakeholders to translate user needs into technical designs.
Bonus Experience
  1. Prior work with retail, eCommerce, or manufacturer datasets.
  2. Familiarity with alt-text generation and accessibility guidelines (EU/EN standards).
  3. Experience in product recognition or visual search systems.
Engagement Details

  1. Initial: Discovery and architecture design (part-time contract).
  2. Potential continuation: Prototype and deployment phase.
  3. Remote with option for virtual collaboration and regular check-ins with the hiring manager.
